Greenbush - Irene Hoverson, 87, of Greenbush, formerly of Strathcona, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush, with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating. Casket Bearers were Irene’s eleven grandchildren,  Jeremy and Taryn Hoverson, Timothy and John M. Stanisawski, Valarie (Stanislawski) Holzer, Jon Behrens, Deann (Loken) Fenster, Janine (Loken) Hofman, Jay, Darik and Paul Loken. The Honorary Pallbearers were Irene’s great-grandchildren and her special lady friends. Burial was later the same day in the Quale Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Fordville, N.D., with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating.
Irene Hoverson was born Sept. 18, 1925, to parents Joseph and Mary (Vasicek) Trenda, at Lankin, N.D., and grew up in North Dakota. She married Melvin Loken on June 6, 1946 at Fordville, N.D.  Melvin died on Oct. 21, 1957.  She married Victor Hoverson on Dec. 19, 1965 at Larimore, ND.  They farmed for many years at Strathcona. Victor died on Sept. 8, 2011. Irene lived in Elderbush Manor at Greenbush,  for the past few years and has been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching and making quilts. She was known for her delicious donuts and her popular Rice Krispy Bars, which were present at every family party. She worked hard at baking, cooking, feeding and caring for the farm workers over the years.
Irene loved her church and truly loved her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed living at Elderbush and the many people and friends she met there.
She is survived by her children: Dean (Bernice) Loken of Seattle, Washington,  Dana (Jana) Loken of Ottertail, Connie (John) Stanislawski of Greenbush, Mary Ann Hoverson Swanson of Bethel, Thomas (Vicki) Hoverson of Strathcona, and Douglas Hoverson of Strathcona; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, June Ledbury of Minot, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Melvin Loken and Victor Hoverson; and her sisters, Delores Scott and Grace Coss.
