Thief River Falls - Ruth Alice Oen, 91, Thief River Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Sanford  Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Voelker, PhD. officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. 
Ruth was born on July 17, 1921 in Norden Township, Pennington County, to the late Francis and Bertha (Swenson) Klein. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. 
After graduating high school, Ruth enlisted and served in the U.S. Waves and worked at Boeing Aircraft before settling back in Thief River Falls marrying Raymond Gordon Oen on Feb. 17, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Furthering her previous studies at Farragut College near Coeur d' Alene, ID and John B. Stetson University in Deland, Fla., Ruth completed work in elementary education studies with both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Bemidji State University.  Ruth also completed additional coursework in special education and learning disabilities while teaching remedial reading at Plummer High School for over 19 years until she retired.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Shaun (Steven) Muzzy of Thief River Falls, and her two sons Spencer Oen of Port Angeles, Wash., and Scott (Terri) Oen of Oregon City, Ore.; four grandchildren, Kelli (Rob Russillo) Muzzy, Kristin Muzzy, Nathaniel Muzzy and Jessica Oen; nieces, Dorothy Moore, Janice Schaefer, Arthur (Jane) Bakke, Jewel (David) Moen, Rick (Bonnie) Elofson, Terry Elofson; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
Preceding Ruth in death were her parents; husband Raymond; brothers, Reuben and Alfred Klein; sisters, Gladys Bakke, Amelia Ellefson, and Evelyn Klein; niece, Beatrice Hancock; nephew, Rodney Klein, and great-nephew, Karl Reger.
