Dorothy Ann Johnson was born on Sept. 19, 1944 in Wadena, the fourth of six children born to Eino and Olga (Haataja) Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. In 1951, the family moved to Thief River Falls, where Dorothy attended Lincoln High School.
On Feb. 6, 1960, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gerald Wayne at Eino and Olga’s home in Thief River Falls. While living in Thief River Falls, two children were born Julie and Robert.  In 1962 the family moved to Bell Gardens, Calif., where Donald was born. Gerald worked for Arm & Hammer, and in 1967, he was transferred to Green River, Wyo., where the family lived until 1969. In July 1969, they returned to Goodridge and purchased their farm in Grand Plain Township.  Together they ran a livestock and small grain operation.
In addition to working on the farm, Dorothy worked at the Goodridge Historical Society, tended bar at the Goodridge Municipal Liquor Store and was in the sewing department at Arctic Cat for 20 years.
Dorothy was an awesome cook and enjoyed crossword puzzles and video games.  She also enjoyed fishing, hunting and driving around with her husband Gerald looking for deer. Dorothy especially loved spending time with her family.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Goodridge Lion Tamers.  Dorothy was one hundred percent Finnish heritage, had a great sense of humor, and never complained even throughout her illness.
