Mills, Wyo. - Gregory R. Sjulestad, 52, Mills, Wyo., formerly of Goodridge, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at the University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora, Colo., surrounded by his loving family and friend.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Ekelund Lutheran Church rural Goodridge, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Casket bearers included Rick Poppenhagen, Roy Sunsdahl, Kevin Burge, Nick Sjulestad, Gaylen Ninow, Mark Delage, Ron Melby, Richard Sunsdahl and Randy Tharaldson. Honoray casket bearers included all uncles, nephews, cousins, Danny Imgrund, Bruce Mohl, Branden Narlock and Chris Hagman. Interment was held at Star Cemetery, Star Township, Pennington County.
Gregory Ross Sjulestad was born on July 25, 1960 in Thief River Falls, the son of Edward and Shirley (Hesse) Sjulestad. He was baptized at the home of Omer Nesland and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church. Greg attended school in Goodridge and graduated from Goodridge High School.
Greg became the proud father of Heather on June 29, 1977.
On March 8, 1980, Greg was united in marriage to Vicki Blackstad at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
Greg worked for Forsberg’s in Thief River Falls for a short time and then went to work for the City of Thief River Falls. Greg also took on a second job cleaning the two car washes for a couple of years. Then he went to work for North Country Paving in Thief River Falls and later for Johnson Construction in Fargo, N.D. Greg moved to Casper, Wyo., where he worked for McMurry Ready Mix and his last job was with Hedquist Construction.
Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a dedicated and passionate fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and Boston Celtics; and was very committed to his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather and her children; mother, Shirley (Jeff) Dahlen; father, Edward “Sonny” Sjulestad; siblings, Ginger (Bruce) Mohl, Jared “Cub” (Stephanie) Sjulestad, Kimberly (Kevin Burge) Smith, Susan Sjulestad and Bobbi Jo (Branden) Narlock; special friend, Karen Damizo; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by infant twin sons; grandparents; and cousins, Ricky and Kim Sunsdahl and Ryan Bjerklie.
