Thief River Falls - With her loving family present, Muriel Vagle, age 82, passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D., on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
Funeral Services were held Monday, Jan. 28 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Mark Helgeland and Rev. Ben Carlsen officiating.
Muriel Joan Enquist was born Aug. 31, 1930, at the Kittson Co. Memorial Hospital in Hallock, the daughter of Julius and Edna (Grandquist) Enquist. This was also her parent’s first wedding anniversary.
She was raised in Kennedy and attended school there, graduating as the class salutatorian from KHS in 1948. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks, N.D. Muriel worked at several secretarial jobs in the area.
Muriel married Wallace Vagle Feb. 10, 1951, at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy. They settled in Thief River Falls in 1955 where they raised their family. Together, Muriel and Wally enjoyed fishing, camping, watching basketball games, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
Muriel attended First Lutheran Church, later called Redeemer Lutheran. She worked for 10 years as parish secretary there.
Muriel enjoyed all kinds of handiwork, especially crocheting and quilting with the ladies group at Redeemer. She attended church circles, and was a member of the altar guild.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Muriel is survived by husband, Wally of Thief River Falls; children, Ellen (Alan) Anton of Stephen, David (Irene) Vagle of Alexandria, and Nancy (Hal) Harbott of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Matt Anton of Ramsey, Sarah (Blair) Klamar of Grygla, Trisha (Dewey) Kostrzewski of Thief River Falls, Katie (Brian Carr) Harbott of Lindstrom, Cari (Danni) Jarshaw of Newfolden, Leah (Greg Pudlick) Vagle of Becker, Kelley Vagle of Bemidji; great-grandchildren, Blaine Kostrzewski, Braedon and Benjamin Carr, Tuff Jarshaw, Rylan Klamar, and great-granddaughter, Ellie Klamar to be born in February; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Julius and Edna Enquist.
