Thief River Falls - Carl Pippin, 61, Thief River Falls, died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at his residence in Thief River Falls,  surrounded by his loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert presiding. 
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, with Larry Myhrer presiding, on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls.  Visitation will also be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church.   
Carl William Pippin was born on Aug. 25, 1951 in Ada, the son of Carl William and Agnes (Aanenson) Pippin. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada.  Carl attended school and graduated from Ada High School in 1969. In 1972, Carl was united in marriage to Vickie Simonson and to this union Shelly, Karla and Josh were born.
Carl went to work for BNSF Railroad and was based out of Erskine, where he worked for over 25 years.  He also worked in real estate and was an entrepreneur in various other business ventures. Following his retirement from the railroad, Carl attended Northwest Technical College in Thief River Falls, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Crookston with a degree in business.
Carl enjoyed working with his hands, including woodworking, carpentry and working as a handyman.  He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and spending time with nature. Carl always had a positive attitude; he was a good man, willing to help anyone, and was always smiling.
On July 7, 2007, Carl was united in marriage to Sharon LaCoursiere at Black River Lutheran Church, rural St. Hilaire.  The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where they have continued to reside. To this union came Sharon’s children, Robin, Christie, Terry, Shannon, and Kirk.
Carl and Sherry’s marriage was blessed into the Catholic faith at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sherry LaCoursiere Pippin of Thief River Falls; children, Shelly (Lance) Henrickson, Karla Pippin, and Josh (Lisa) Pippin; step-children, Rob (Lynn) LaCoursiere, Christie (Brian) Sauer, Terry (Sherry) LaCoursiere, Shannon (Greg) Smidt, Kirk (Lisa) LaCoursiere; grandchildren, Gage and Gracee Henrickson, Ryan and Jaime LaCoursiere, Rodney and Abby Smidt, Lindsay LaCoursiere, Kylie LaCoursiere; siblings, Leland (Linda) Aanenson, Wallace (Janice) Flyberg, Larry (Margo) Flyberg, Carol Kuehn, Allen Pippin; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Flyberg; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Kuehn.
