Crookston - Clifford L. Vevea, 93, of Crookston, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, N.D.
The funeral service for Cliff and Eva Vevea was held Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Crookston, with Pastor Michelle Miller officiating. Interment was held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Eva Maria Vevea, 90, of Crookston, died Sunday evening, December 30, 2012 at the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, N.D.
Cliff Vevea was born on Dec. 19, 1919 in Thief River Falls, the son of Louis and Sophia (Haggen) Vevea. He grew up and was educated at Thief River Falls and worked at Oens Appliance in Thief River Falls as a sales clerk. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Philippines. Following his discharge he returned to his job at Oens.
He was united in marriage with Eva M. Larsen on July 11, 1947 in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Thief River Falls. In 1964, they moved to Crookston, where he worked as a clerk with Job Service until retiring in 1985.
Eva Larsen was born on Nov. 14, 1922 in Red Lake County, on the family farm, the daughter of John and Christine Larsen. She grew up and was educated in Red Lake County and graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer.
She worked as a billing clerk at Mobil Oil in Thief River Falls. She was united in marriage with Clifford L. Vevea on July 11, 1947 in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Thief River Falls and she continued to work at Mobil Oil. In 1964, she and Cliff moved to Crookston, where she worked at the ASCS office as a clerk and later as supervisor before retiring in 1984. Eva enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.
The couple loved dancing and was featured once in the Grand Forks Herald. They enjoyed working on their home and their yard continually updating the interior and exterior of their home.
Cliff and Eva are survived by their son: Kip (Judy) Vevea of Bemidji; grandchildren: Devin (Darlene) Vevea of Bemidji, Shari Vanasse of Phoenix, and Kippy (Henry) Knoblouch of Bemidji; eight great-grandchildren: Kacie, Cody, Ashli, Talon, Tyler, Laney, Jacy & Kaidyn; two great-great-grandchildren: Troy and Peityn.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Sophia Vevea; four sisters: Marie, Stella, Louise and Lucille; three brothers: Willis, Clarence and Lloyd. Eva was preceded in death by her parents: John and Christine Larsen; two brothers: Harold Larsen and Helge Larsen.
