Surprise, Ariz. - Alfred S. Nelson, 92, died of natural causes on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012.  Funeral services were held in Phoenix Ariz., on Friday, Dec. 21 at Grimshaw Mortuary. Interment was held at the Veteran's Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.Alfred up in Thief River Falls and later attended the University of Minnesota Medical School. He was a doctor in the Phillipine Islands during World War II. He later had a career as a doctor with the Public Health Service and retired from that in 1975, and then worked for the State of Arizona for 10 additional years, as the Director of Medicine for the State of Arizona. He had a three siblings, Ralph, Norman, and Marilyn, who also grew up in Thief River Falls. His parents were Nels and Hilda Nelson. A00003B2012DC26  |
