Park Rapids - Clara Ann Daniels, Waabinibi` ziibiikwe (White Water River Woman) age 49, of Park Rapids, journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.
A wake with funeral following ws held on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Casket Bearers included Tristin Slininger, Patrick Daniels, Kenneth Strand Jr., Mike Donnell, Robert Chute and Leroy Slininger.
Clara was born on March 16, 1963 in Emerson, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Raymond Hayden and Alice Smith later to be adopted by Michael J. and Evelyn M. Ilene Daniels.
Clara grew up being heavily involved in sports; she loved gardening with her mother and grandmother. Clara then went on to Utah Job Core where she met the father (Carey Slininger) of her three beautiful children. Clara then attended Art school in Denver, Co until 1985 when she relocated to Grand Forks, N.D.
Clara gave birth to three of her beautiful children (Jennifer 23, Christine 21, and Tristin 15) in Grand Forks, N.D. Clara was very free-spirited and like to travel to different parts of the states always taking her children with her. Eventually, Clara settled in Thief River Falls, where she worked at Artic Cat in the sewing department and Seven Clans casino.
Clara met her life partner (Edwina Golden of Park Rapids) while working at Seven Clans and helped Edwina raise her children. Clara was also a licensed mechanic. Clara enjoyed sewing, beadwork and cooking.
There final residency was in Park Rapids, where Clara lived the remainder of her life.
Survivors include a son: Tristin Slininger of Grand Forks, N.D.; daughters: Jennifer Daniels and Christine Daniels, both of Grand Forks, N.D.; two grandchildren (Landen and Kayden Chute); life partner: Edwina Golden (and her five children) of Park Rapids; brothers and a sister: Bradley Small of Pennsylvania, Brian Small of Ohio, Raymond Daniels of Cheyenne, Wyo., Lawrence Daniels of Cheyenne, Wyo., Michael Daniels and Patrick Daniels both of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Beth Smith of Victoria, Canada; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Raymond Hayden and Alice Smith; and her loving adopted parents, Michael Sr. and Evelyn Ilene-Daniels; extended family, Ralph Slininger; and nephews Andrew Slininger and Sebastian Cooley.
