Moorhead - James Ray Pearcy Sr., 78, of Moorhead, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Fargo, N.D., after a courageous battle with cancer.
James was born Oct. 18, 1934 in Lynd, the son of Ray L. and Rosella Pearcy. He joined the Navy in January 1952. He married Gloria Skogan on Dec. 31, 1956. They started their family in the Marshall area and moved to Moorhead a few years later.
James was an Iron Worker and was a member of the Iron and Steel Workers Union, participating in building projects throughout the United States. He retired in the Moorhead and Colorado areas. He spent the last few years in Tyler, and moved back to Moorhead in 2010. James enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving family members include: brothers, Clayton (Carol) Pearcy, Marshall, David (Carrie) Pearcy, Tyler; sister, Janice (John) Steinle, Balaton; sons, James (Mia) Pearcy Jr., Moorhead, Darin (Kristin) Pearcy, Thief River Falls; daughter, Brenda (Bear) Fuller, Shoshone, Wyo.; grandchildren, April Martinez, Pueblo, Colo., Brock and Sara Pearcy, Moorhead, Raquel Pearcy, Ethan Johnson and Kate Johnson, Thief River Falls; great-grandchildren, Owen Pearcy, Moorhead, Elijah and Gabriella Martinez, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Rosella Pearcy; brother, Loren Pearcy; and sister, Sharon Buchholtz.
