Harvey Oliver Swenson was born on Nov. 29, 1922 on the family farm near Niagara, N.D., to Carl and Olga (Skadsem) Swenson.  He was baptized in the Christian faith. In 1933, the family purchased a farm near the Alma Lutheran Church east of Argyle.  Harvey was confirmed at Alma Lutheran Church and attended country school. In 1937, the family moved to a farm north of Argyle, and in 1938, he started working out as a farm hand for Charles Widner. Harvey worked in the CCC Camps during the early 1940s.
In 1946, while working on the Kiene Farm near Kennedy, he met a telephone operator by the name of Lucy Przekwas and they were married on April 6, 1948 at the parsonage in Argyle. To this union five children were born: twins Charles and Charlotte, Cheryl, Micheal and Debbie.  In the fall of 1948, they moved to Seattle, Wash., to work at the Boeing plant, and in the spring of 1949 they moved to back to Greenbush, where Harvey worked for the John Deere dealership.
In the spring of 1952 the family moved to Auburn, N.D., to work on the Harry and Luther Lyken Farm.  Harvey worked there until November of 1963 when they moved to Viking. In 1966, they moved to a farm south of Viking where they operated a grain and dairy farm, a farm which their son, Chuck eventually purchased from them.
In 1976, they sold the cows and spent the next 25 winters in Mesz, Ariz.  Harvey enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing, having a new car (preferably Oldsmobiles) and he especially enjoyed farming, friends and his family. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club since the early 1950s.
