Shawnee, Okla. - Ronald Gale Melhouse, 75, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 in Shawnee, Okla.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Kim Domnick and Rev. Karen Fowler-Lindemulder officiating. Interment was held at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Gregory’s University “Benedictine Hall Window Fund.”
Ronald was born Feb. 27, 1937 in McIntosh, the son of Helmer M. and Mabel O. Melhouse. He graduated in 1954 from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Henley from Jan. 19, 1955 to December 10, 1957.
On Nov. 24, 1962, he married Emily Gladys Melhouse. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 1998. He then married Sandra Kaye Melhouse on April 29, 2000. He was a supporter of numerous local charities and universities, a former Little League coach, fisherman, avid golfer, and a dedicated husband, father and grandpa.
He was known as an “Engineering Icon.” His career with Eaton Corp spanned 36 years, during which he held a variety of engineering and management assignments in Eden Prairie and Shawnee, Okla. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (Shawnee Lodge 657), The American Legion, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Eaton Corporation Quarter Century Club and the Shawnee Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Gladys Melhouse, his parents and numerous siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; children: Mark, Sheryl and Patty; grandchildren; stepchildren; stepgrandchildren, Joyce Swenson of Thief River Falls and Jerome Melhouse of Burnsville; sister, brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. A00003B2012NV07
