Myron Leroy Olberg was born on Aug. 6, 1934 in Spruce Valley Township in Marshall County, the son of Art and Ellen (Peterson) Olberg. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Myron attended country school in the Middle River, area.
In the fall of 1955 he met the love of his life, Sharron Wegge in Holt, and on Sept. 29, 1956 they were united in marriage at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. They lived for a short time on the Wegge farmstead and then moved to the Twin Cities area. To this union four children were born, Jeffrey, RaChelle, Roxanne and Valerie.
While living in the Twin Cities area, Myron worked in the gravel crushing business for various companies. In 1972, the family moved to the Wegge family farm where they made their home. Among other companies, Myron worked for Davidson Construction and farmed. In 1987, he purchased his first gravel crusher from Ronnie Davidson and started his own business which he called M & J Construction of Holt Inc. He enjoyed the business with his son and grandsons.
Myron enjoyed several winters at their home in Arizona with his wife, Sharron and their family and friends. He enjoyed watching westerns on TV, playing cards, and was very competitive at the game, Aggrevation. Time spent with family and friends during the holidays was very special to Myron.
On Dec. 14, 2007 Myron was diagnosed with MDS blood disease which turned into acute myeloid leukemia in October of 2010. He dealt with his disease with determination, bravery, and a positive attitude. He continued to live his life to the fullest…he never complained.
