Gatzke - Leighton E. Mork, 68, died on September 28, 2004 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, N.D., at the age of 68.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 2, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. Interment was held at the Bethesda Cemetery in Skime. Military honors were provided by the Grygla American Legion.
Leighton E. Mork, the son of Amy (Berg) and John P. Mork, was born on January 25, 1936 in Wannaska. He grew up in rural Marshall County and attended school in Roseau County. He entered the U.S. Navy on May 22, 1953 and was discharged on January 16, 1957. After his discharge he worked in Minneapolis and North Dakota. He and Violet Larson were married for seven years. He farmed small grain crops in Linsell Township and took great pride in his clean farm. He loved to hunt and sucker fish and will be remembered as a farmer, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed. Leighton was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 3858 and of the Bethesda Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his son, Todd (Cindy) of Thief River Falls; step-children, Lyle (Barb) Archibald of Greybull, Wyo., Michael (Dawn) Archibald of Grygla and Bonnie (Brian) Stanley of Grygla; two-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Norm; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lester, Richard and infant Johnny.
