    Brownton - Robert “Bob” Alan Kleinschmidt, age 65, of Brownton,  died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
    A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Oklee, with Pastor Jonathan Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery in rural Oklee.
    Robert “Bob” Alan Kleinschmidt   was born on April 25, 1947, in Minneapolis, the son of Arthur and Jean (Mackenzie) Kleinschmidt. Bob was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. At age 1, Bob and his parents moved to Ames, Iowa, and then moved to Gainesville, Ill., where his dad completed his doctorate in engineering and taught. The family moved back to Ames, where his dad taught at Iowa State.  Bob received his education in Ames and was a graduate of the Ames High School Class of 1965.
    Bob entered active military service in the United States Navy on June 14, 1965, and served his country during the Vietnam War, on the shores at the Navel Support Activity, Da Nang and on a navy ship, the USS. John W Thomson OD760.  He received an Honorable Discharge on March 8, 1971.
    Bob furthered his education at the a college in Iowa for a year then transferred to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he completed his degree in Business Administration and Finance.
    After graduation Bob moved to Minnesota and began working in the health care field as a Hospital Purchasing Agent. He furthered his career by getting a license as a Nursing Home Administrator  and worked at sites in Brown Valley, Watkins, Cannon Falls and MacIntosh, Minnesota, where he met his loving wife, Corlan.
    On Sept. 5, 1992, Bob was united in marriage to Corlan Sorenson in Oklee, Minnesota. They shared 20 years of marriage.
    Bob changed his career to manufacturing and worked at a foundery in Crookston, Minnesota, before moving to Lake Marion in Brownton, Minnesota, where he had inherited a lake home from his grandparents which he remodel to be they a year around home. Bob then began a career at 3M Company in Hutchinson and retired on June 1, 2012.  Bob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton. He was also a member of Brownton American Legion Post #143, where he was Past Commander, Glencoe VFW Post 5102 and Glencoe 40&8.
    Some of Bob’s hobbies were fishing, reading, computers, hunting and traveling with his wife, Corlan. They had been to 36 of the 50 states together plus Canada and Mexico. Bob also enjoyed vintage cars and owned a couple vintage Volkswagen Beetles and vintage Saab 99.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
    Bob was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, the first part of Sept., 2012. He was at home with Hospice Care and the care of his loving nurse Corlan. When Bob needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, on Oct. 15, 2012. He passed away peacefully there on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, with his loving wife by his side, at the age of 65 years.

    Bob is survived by his wife, Corlan Kleinschmidt; step-children, Randy Magnell and his wife, Nancy, Wesley Magnell and his wife Debbie, Dennis Magnell and his wife, Danielle, Annette Phelps and her husband, Galen; 22 step-grandchildren; 26 step-great-grandchildren; mother, Jean Kleinschmidt; sister, Judi Van Alstine and her husband, Ron; grandkitten, Jakie; and many other relatives and friends.
    Bob was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Kleinschmidt; and step-son, Jason Magnell.
