    Stephen - Leonard Ward Field, 83, Stephen, died on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Hospital with his family by his side.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at First Lutheran Church in Stephen.  Interment was held at the Stephen City Cemetery, with Rev. Mike Schendel, presiding Honorary casket bearers included the Stephen Lion's Club; friends and Neighbors. Casket bearers included Joshua Mindeman, Noah Mindeman, Matthew Mindeman, Brian Field, James Iverson and Jeff Mostad.  
    The youngest of four children, Leonard was born to J. Ward Field and Ethel (Lyons) Field on Nov. 5, 1928 in Warren. He graduated from Stephen High School in 1946. Leonard farmed until retirement, drove bus No. 6 for Stephen Public Schools and worked many years for American Crystal Sugar Company. Leonard was a lifetime member of Stephen First Presbyterian Church where he served as trustee, elder and was memorial fund treasurer for 42 years.
    He was an enthusiastic member of the Stephen Lions Club and had a record of perfect attendance for 44 years. Leonard was a Tamarac Township supervisor, a twenty year member of the Stephen Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Stephen Curling Club. Leonard was a gregarious person who enjoyed traveling, meeting and talking to all kinds of people. He cherished living on the banks of the Tamarac River and watching the variety of birds and wildlife.
    Leonard also enjoyed farming, golfing, curling, deer hunting and spending time with family. Leonard and Virginia Harstad were married on Oct. 20, 1951 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden.
    Leonard is survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia and his three children, Bradley (Marla) Field, Barnesville, Jolette (Craig) Mindeman, Fargo, N.D., Jay (Jody) Field, West Fargo, N.D. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. Jill (Jim) Iverson, Fergus Falls, Brian (Michelle) Field, Barnesville,  Josuha ( Abigal) Mindeman, West Fargo, N.D., Noah Mindeman, Minneapolis,  Matthew Mindeman, Minneapolis, Tera Field, Dallas, Ga., Brittanie (Jeff) Mostad, Langdon, N.D. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Makena, Erica, Grady and Maxum and one brother Charles (Leatrice) Field, Stephen.
    Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; brother John Field, sister Hazel Welsh and niece Susan Welsh.
