Warroad - Janice Wahlbeck, 75, died on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Warroad Senior Living Center.
Funeral Services for Janice Wahlbeck of Warroad were held on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Warroad Senior Living Center in Warroad.
Janice Carol Wahlbeck was born on Sept. 12, 1937 in Grand Forks, N.D., to Clarissa and Thomas Braaten. She married Jerold Wahlbeck on July 20, 1973.
Janice worked as a nurse’s aide at several facilities throughout the years. She enjoyed listening to the music that her husband and The Highway 11 Ramblers played. She enjoyed playing bingo and the many activities at the Warroad Senior Living Center. She was very interested in hummingbirds and collected hummingbird figurines. She liked attending the Steam and Gas Shows. She also liked sitting by the lake with a shake watching the boats and the birds.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Gibson of Cambridge, Sheryl (Mark) Swanson of Elk River, Michelle (Richard) Scott of St. Hilaire, Rebecca (Duane) Skibicki of Warroad, Michael Johnson of Monticello, and Sandra Wahlbeck of Lawton, Okla.; two stepchildren, 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild; sisters, Laine (Loren) Ellingson, and Beverly (Robert) Pahlen; brothers, Butch (Kathy) Braaten, Ronald (Pat) Braaten; sisters-in-law, Colleen (Jon) Swenson and Barbara (Ray) Oulette; brother-in-law, Don (Yvonne) Wahlbeck, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wahlbeck on Dec. 30, 2011, her parents, one brother, two grandchildren, a stepdaughter, and one step-great-granddaughter.
