    Thief River Falls - Cletus Brown, 58, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at his home in Thief River Falls.
    Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 1, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Dean Johansen officiating. Honorary casket bearers included Nels Brown, Anders Brown, Bethany Brown, Karen Brown, Luke Theriot, Olivia Spink and William Brown. Military honors were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793, American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post 117 and National Guard Honor Guard.  
    Cletus R. Brown was born on Dec. 17, 1953 in Moorhead, the son of Raymond Irwin Brown and Arlene Mae (Zadow) Brown.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead.  Cletus attended high school at Moorhead High, graduating in 1971. While in high school, he held his first job at the Fargo Country Club and later worked at the Skelly Gas Station.  
    Following high school, Cletus proudly served his country in the United States Army. He completed Basic Training in Washington State, AIT in Fort HuaChuca, Ariz., and also was stationed in Germany for 2½ years.
    Cletus furthered his education at Moorhead State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. He attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D., where he was working on his master’s degree.
    On Sept. 18, 1976, Cletus was united in marriage to Lois Enita Johansen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. To this union, three children were born: Nels, Anders, and Bethany.  
    From 1975 to 1980, Cletus worked with his brother Ron, and others, specializing in finish carpentry. He also worked for  Purolator Courier. His family then moved to Thief River Falls.
    From March 6, 1985, until the present, he worked with the Minnesota State Patrol as RCO and then RCS.
      Cletus’ hobbies and interests included reading, politics, carpentry, antiques, rummaging, and outdoors. He especially enjoyed time spent with his friends, family, kids, and grandkids.
    Cletus is survived by his wife, Lois of Thief River Falls; children, Nels Brown of Thief River Falls, Anders (Karen) Brown of Pleasant View, Tenn., and Bethany (Luke Theriot) Brown of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Olivia Spink and William Brown; brothers, Ron (Pat) Brown of Pelican Rapids, Stu (Sue) Brown of West Fargo, ND, Miles (Kim) Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo.;  several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives, and friends.
    Preceding him in death are his parents and grandparents.
