Thief River Falls - Allen C. Jones, 89, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 10 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Interment was held at Goodridge Cemetery, Goodridge.
Allen Conrad Jones was born September 25, 1915 in Moylan Township, Marshall County, the son of William and Gena (Johnson) Jones. He was baptized and confirmed at Germantown Church. He grew up and attended Mayflower School.
On July 28, 1937, Allen was united in marriage to Myrtle Tveten at the parsonage in Mavie. He continued to live on the Jones Farm for a couple of years. He then farmed for 3 years in Grygla, and trapped during the winter. Later the couple moved to a farm in Agder Township.
Allen opened a blacksmith shop in Goodridge and operated it for five years. He then worked as a janitor in the school and worked for the Carl Elg shop for three years. Allen and his brother, Casper opened and operated an auto repair shop and later, Allen would work in a machine shop in Grafton, N.D. for 3 years. He worked at Arctic Cat for nine years, when he, Wallace, Casper and Raymond started a shop building barrel stove’s, meat saw’s and rock pickers. One year Allen used over a ton of welding rods. He also did “retirement” farm work for Harvey Troska. Myrtle died in 1986.
January 28, 1990, Allen married Ruth Gausen and they continued to live in Goodridge. This past January they moved into Thief River Falls. Work was Allen’s hobby. He enjoyed dancing, playing the organ and violin.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Thief River Falls; one son, Ray Jones of Goodridge; a daughter, Dolly (Wallace) Heaton of Thief River Falls; 11 grandsons; three step-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jan Delong of Goodridge; several step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle; one son, Wallace in 1999; three grandsons; his parents; one sister, Elida Hanson; and one brother, Casper.
