    Thief River Falls - Lila Holthusen, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at Minnesota Greenleaf Assisted Living in Thief River Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Casket bearers included Cole Holthusen, Derek Holthusen, Aaron Holthusen, Anthony Holthusen, Jack Nelson and Baylen Hagen. Interment was held Rosebud Cemetery, Thorholt.  
    Lila Doris Hagen was born on May 22, 1929 to Arnie O. and Kornelia Petrine (Ostrem) Hagen at home in Northwood Township, rural Grygla. She grew up on a farm north of Grygla. She attended the Anderson Grade School in Grygla and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1946.    
    Lila was united in marriage Wallace Holthusen on Dec. 31, 1947 in Thief River Falls. They made their home in rural Thorholt for most of their married life.  Lila, along with Wally, farmed for many years together.  They moved into Grygla for about a year and half and most recently Lila has lived at Greenleaf Assisted Living in Thief River Falls.  
    Lila’s favorite time was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spoiled her children and grandkids, and would often make several different meals for them.  She loved family gatherings and was a wonderful host. Lila loved to garden and kept a meticulous yard and had green thumbs.  She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, rural Grygla and the Grygla Fourtown Sportsman’s Club.   
    Lila is survived by three children: Davis Holthusen, Thief River Falls, Valerie (Dave) Zavoral, Grygla, Blair (Denise) Holthusen, Grygla; 10 grandchildren: Cole (Terri Mercil) Holthusen, Derek (Lacey Solberg) Holthusen, Jessica (Jason) Bodin, Chris Zavoral, Stephanie Zavoral, Anthony (Miranda) Holthusen, Aaron (Molly Hanson) Holthusen, Ashely (Justin Cameron) Holthusen, Krystal Holthusen, Kylie (Chris Raymond) Holthhusen, nine great-grandchildren: Cameron Holthusen, Lecora, Alayna, and Rylan Bodin, Shelby and Alora Holthusen, and Bailey and Harrison Cameron, Summer Ruud; three brothers, Otto (Henni) Hagen, Grygla, Melvin Hagen, Grygla, Norris Hagen, Grygla; one sister, Miranda Skaaran, Bemidji and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  
    Lila was preceded in death by her husband Wallace on December 31, 2010; her parents; one son, Paul in 1997; a still born baby; and one brother, Oscar Hagen; four sisters: Inga Ulla, Alma Svedpladsen, Clara Boe and Benora Falk.
