Grand Forks, N.D. - Olga Johnson, age 92 of Grand Forks, N.D., died Friday, July 13, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 16 at Dahl Funeral Home in East Grand Forks. Interment was held at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
Olga Johnson was born on Jan. 13, 1920 on the family farm near Wolf Lake, the daughter of Gustave H. and Anna (Komulainen) Haataja. Olga was born and raised in the Wolf Lake area until moving to Sebeka. On Sept. 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Eino A. Johnson in Menaga. They moved to the Grand Forks, N.D., area where she worked at St. Michael’s Hospital and then as a cook for the Larimore public schools.
In 1960 they moved to East Grand Forks, where she worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Olga enjoyed playing bingo, enjoying time at their cabin at Maple Lake, reading, crocheting and many other hobbies.
Olga is survived by her children, Arnold Johnson of Grand Forks, N.D., Elaine (Frank) Donarski of Grand Forks, N.D., Donald (Barbara) Johnson of Lawton, Okla., Dorothy (Gerald) Wayne of Goodridge, Grace (James) Giauque of East Grand Forks and Willard Johnson of Grand Forks; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert (Beatrice) Haataja of Menaga; one sister, Thelma Hallonen of Cokato; along with many nieces and nephews.
