    Karlstad - Pearl E. Thompson, 97, died Tuesday, July 3 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7 at Assembly of God Church in Karlstad, with Pastor Rick Waldholm officiating.
    Pearl E. Thompson was born on Jan. 18, 1915 in Cannon Township, Kittson County, near Lake Bronson to Ole and Inga (Nelson) Vagle. She attended country school in Cannon Township and graduated high school in Strandquist. She was united in marriage to Peter E. Thompson on Oct. 1, 1935 in Karlstad. She and Peter lived and worked in various towns such as Drayton and Bemidji eventually settling on their farm in Lincoln Township, Marshall County, where they farmed and raised livestock.
    She was a loving wife and mother, and a wonderful grandmother. Pearl was a self-taught seamstress and upholsterer which lead her to start her own business. She worked for Arctic Cat for many years in the clothing department. She retired in 1980. Following her retirement from Artic Cat she continued with her sewing and upholstering business until 2000, when she quit to care for Peter.
    Peter passed away in 2003 and Pearl soon after moved off the farm and into Karlstad. She resided in three places in Karlstad including The Meadows Assisted Living and the Karlstad Health Care Center.
    Pearl was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Karlstad, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and a member of the Woman's Mission organization. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, sending many quilts to numerous missions and organizations around the world. She also enjoyed playing games with her children, grandchildren and others, such as Aggravation, Rummikub and Skip-Bo.     
    Pearl is survived by three daughters: LaVonne Johnson of Strandquist, Sherrie Stewart of Burnsville, and Rebecca (Danny) Johnson of Karlstad; one son, David (Phaela) Thompson of Hemet, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren; one brother: Lloyd (Alice) Vagle of Elk River, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Gene; one granddaughter Connie Resech; and 10 siblings.
