Hibbing - James George “Jim” Gleason, 67, Hibbing, died Wednesday July 4, 2012, at Fairview University Medical Center—Mesabi, Hibbing.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment was held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 8510 Color Guard. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.
He was born in Hibbing on Aug. 22, 1944, to James W. and Hanny Gleason and had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as an equipment operator for St. Louis County and was a member of the NRA, VFW Post 8510, and the Hibbing Rifle and Pistol Club. Jim was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of Hibbing; three children: Heather (Danny) Drlaca Egstad of East Grand Forks, Mike (Kelly) Taggart of Thief River Falls, and Karen (Rich) Las of Orr; five grandchildren: Austin, Cole, Abby, Brody, and Riley; and a sixth grandchild due in January. He was preceded in death by his parents.
