    Newfolden - Charles Skadsem, 51, died on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.  
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12 at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, with Rev. Gary Barrett officiating. Interment was held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden.  
    Charles LaVerne Skadsem was born on March 7, 1961 to Dennis LaVerne Skadsem and Karen Elizabeth (Hendrickson) in Karlstad. He grew up in the Newfolden area and in Wyoming. He attended school and graduated from Marshall County Central in 1979.  
    He moved to Wyoming to work in the oil fields with his dad and uncle. He worked out in the oil fields for almost 10 years.  He also worked as a chemical dependency counselor for about 10 years in Thermopolis and Sheridan, Wyo.
    In the late 1990s he returned to the oil fields. He was injured working on an oil rig and wasn’t able to continue working.
    He was united in marriage to Rhonda Lee Rundberg on Feb. 20, 1999 in Gillette, Wyo. They made their home in Gillette, Wyo., and moved back to Minnesota in 2000.    
    Chuck loved to take a ride on his Harley. He also enjoyed fishing and refinishing furniture.  The outdoors was where he felt most comfortable.  
    Chuck is survived by his wife Rhonda, Newfolden; children:  Corey Skadsem, Strandquist, Craig (Megan Swanson) Skadsem, Strandquist, Jacob Skadsem, Fargo, N.D., Zachary Skadsem, Great Falls, Mont.; stepson, Jason “Ryan” Garland, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Gage Skadsem, Kaycee Skadsem, Kylee Skadsem, Jason Garland, Mason Garland, Boston Garland; dad Dennis (Marie) Skadsem, Pine Haven, Wyo.; mom, Karen Skadsem, Strandquist; two brothers, Brian (Tami) Skadsem, Chisholm, and Jason Skadsem, Newfolden; grandmother Lucile Skadsem, Newfolden, and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  
     Chuck was preceded in death by stepdad Willis Skadsem; grandparents, Art Skadsem, Elmer and Arlene Hendrickson.
