Bloomington - Marshall Simons, 75, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at his home in Bloomington.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home in Bloomington.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8 at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Lunch will be served at Johnson Funeral Service following the graveside service on Friday.
Marshall B. Simons was born on July 1, 1936 to Harry and Dede (Hagen) Simons in Thief River Falls. He grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls graduating from Lincoln High School in 1954. Marshall was united in marriage to Lois Hedquist on July 12, 1958 in Warren. He attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from there in 1960.
Marshall worked at LB Hartz wholesale through high school in the fruit department. After graduating college as an accountant he then worked 30 more years for Hartz. He moved and worked as a staff accountant at Cotter Company in Mankato, MN until retiring.
Marshall played in an old time dance band through high school and college until 1970. He loved being at the lake home they built. He enjoyed making stained glass windows and lamps, and also doing leather work. He enjoyed going to music festivals and listening to his music collection. His favorite music choice was jazz.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Simons, Bloomington; children, Kent (Carleen) Simons, Champaign, Ill., Chris (Special friend Mary) Simons, Eagan, Matthew Simons, Bloomington; one grandson, Joeseph Simons; brother, Harry (Sue) Simons, Boise, Idaho; nephew, David (Charlene) Simons, Santa Rosa, Calif.; cousin Marlys Vad, Bottineau, N.D., and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Louisa.
