    Thief River Falls - Betty Ann “Suzy” Olson, 86, died on Friday, April 6, 2012, exactly 39 years to the day after the death of her husband, Evonne, at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, N.D., with her son, Buzz at her side.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11 (today) at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Ale Tulu and Rev. John Golv co-officiating. Casket bearers include Jeremy Olson, JB Olson, Brady Olson, Chad Kleinvachter, Brent Kleinvachter and Jerome Sorenson. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
    Betty Ann Sorenson was born on June 13, 1925, the fourth of eight children, “in our little shack,” in Newfolden, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Stamness) Sorenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden and attended school there, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1944.  During school and after she graduated, Betty worked as a waitress at the café in Newfolden.
    Betty was united in marriage on Nov. 28, 1946 to Evonne “Ole” Olson.  The couple lived in Newfolden for a few years before moving to Thief River Falls in 1958.  Betty was a stay at home mom while the boys were growing up. Evonne died on April 6, 1973 and Betty continued to live in Thief River Falls.
    Betty worked at Oakland Park Nursing Home for 31 years, retiring on her 70th birthday in 1995. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Thief River Falls, where she was active at many activities, including putting the newsletter together and helping in the kitchen. Throughout the years, Betty was lovingly known as “Suzy” to many.
    Survivors include her son, Bruce “Buzz” of East Grand Forks; daughter-in-law, LaDawn Olson of Thief River Falls;  grandchildren, Krestin (Louis) Radonovich, Jared “JB” (Erica) Olson, Brady (Tiffany) Olson, Jeremy (Danielle) Olson, Tami (Larry) LePier, Chad (Sara) Kleinvachter and Brent Kleinvachter; 15 great-grandchildren; and several relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Terry on March 17, 2011; daughter-in-law, Nancy Olson; great-grandchildren, Corbin Olson and Joey Radonovich; sisters, Mavis Anderson, Arlene Cook, Donna May Sorenson, Shirley Benson, and Marion Skadsem; and brothers, Omar and Howard “Sonny.”
