    Thief River Falls - Mae Breiland, 82, of Thief River Falls, died on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Sanford Palliative Care Hospital in Fargo, N.D.  
    Funeral services were held  Tuesday, April 3,   at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Ben Carlsen officiating. Casket bearers included Jason Breiland, Jeremy Breiland, Matt Noel,  Jeff Noel,   Ronnie Anderson and Dale Breiland. Honorary casket bearers included all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.  
    Mae Esther Anderson was born on May 11, 1929 to Fred Elmer and Florence Victoria (Meyer) Anderson in Pencer.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Pine Grove Lutheran Church on December 14, 1942.  She grew up near Pencer and attended country school District 80. At the age of 15, she moved to Thief River Falls and worked at Mercy Hospital.   
    On October 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Clarence Selmer Breiland at Roseau and the couple lived in Thief River Falls. To this union, five children were born. During her years while her children were young she stayed at home and raised her family. Mae raised and sold raspberries and did upholstery work for many years.    She worked at Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School as a baker and cook from 1970 to 1994. During many of those years she was head cook and many of the students called her “Grandma Mae.”  
    She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and active with the circle.  She belonged to the Homemakers, VFW Auxiliary, and Eagles Auxiliary. Mae was an avid quilter for many little ones, and made “Grandma Mae” quilts.  She enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of her labor.  She helped raise and take care of her grandchildren. She taught her grandchildren how to play rummy and kings corner.  People looked forward to her annual rummage sale.  Camping with her family was a fun time for her. She lived for her family and was always there for them. She was a great carpenter and enjoyed many home remodeling projects. She has lived at the Thief River Care Center since December 2011.    
    She is survived by five children: Linda (Barry) Harrison, Sebring, Fla.; Donna Konickson, Thief River Falls, Steven (Vicky) Breiland, Thief River Falls, Peggy (Jeff) Noel, Stephen, Cynthia Antes, Rockledge, Fla., 10 grandchildren:  Michael (Tammy) Harrison, Kimberly (Danny) Brashear, Chad (Sharon) Konickson, Brenda (John) Hamre, Stephanie Mae (fiancé David Staples) Bowman, Jason (Traci) Breiland, Jeremy (Wendy) Breiland, Matthew Noel, Andi (Mark) Olsonawski, Stacy Antes; 23 great-grandchildren: Derrick and Mikayla Harrison,  Cheyenne and Dustin Brashear, Wren and Willow Konickson, Brady and Averi Hamre, Brianna, Shelby, Jayden, Blake, Jaxon, and Ella Breiland, Colton Breiland, Drew and Morgan Bowman, Madison Kuznia, Noel, Aaron, Ryan, and Kate Olsonawski, Alexandra Joyner, one sister Phyllis Larson, Wannaska, Duane Anderson, Wannaska, and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  
    Mae was preceded in death by her former husband Clarence Breiland, two brothers Arnold Anderson and Robert Anderson, nephew James Anderson, and her parents.
