New London - Brian K. Nelson, 61, of New London died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at his home in rural New London.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 31 at Peace Lutheran Church in New London.
Brian Kenneth Nelson was born on Aug. 28, 1950 in Thief River Falls, to Kenneth and Alice (Johnson) Nelson. He graduated from Thief River Falls High School and went to college at Michigan State. Brian taught carpentry at the VoTech in Thief River Falls. He was past president of the Thief River Falls Elks Club.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Baumeister on May 29th, 1982. The couple moved to New London in 1983. Brian was a Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Spicer. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in New London. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for several years.
Brian enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and fishing. His family will miss the wonderful gourmet meals he liked to prepare. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Brian is survived by his wife Wanda of New London; son Benjamin (and Barbie) Nelson of Willmar; Breanne Nelson (and Anne) of St. Paul; grandson Lucas; brother, Jim (and Edna) Nelson of The Villages, Fla., Marie (and Lloyd) Bakke of New London and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrel and stepmother, Gerry.
