Reservoir in TRF to be drawn down Print E-mail

The city of Thief River Falls began slowly drawing down the Red Lake River on Friday, July 11 in order to complete repairs on the dam. The city will draw down the river by one foot. The walkway of the dam will be closed to foot traffic July 14-25.

Tim and Deb Keefe own a commercial bread mixer and are ready to go for the Pennington County Fair and the Thief River Falls Farmers Market.
The St. Hilaire couple has won numerous awards at the fair. Tim is a six-time grand champion in the breads category and a three-time Red Star Yeast Award winner. He placed second in the breads category at the Minnesota State Fair. Deb has won a grand champion ribbon for jelly and a Red Star Yeast Award for buns. They’ve also won grand champion ribbons for fruits and corn.

Caught in a rundown Print E-mail

Perham runner CJ Mulcahy ran into Thief River Falls third baseman Austin Audette after being caught in a run-down during a July 1 American Legion baseball match-up at the Multi-Events Center. With runners on first and third, Mulcahy was on the back end of a delayed double-steal. But a throw by Bandits catcher Landon Sanders went to third, not second and caught Mulcahy too far off the bag. His attempt to run through Audette on the play failed to dislodge the ball from the glove of the defender. The Bandits swept the Ninth District Division I doubleheader 5-0, 4-3.

Pageants held on July 15 in TRF Print E-mail

The Miss Thief River Falls, Miss RiverFest and Little Miss Thief River Falls pageants will be held Tuesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln High School auditorium. Tickets are $10, which are available at Hugo’s, Kezar Music and at the door.
Contestants for the Miss Thief River Falls Pageant include Umalee Holecek, Ashley Jobe, Brittany Johnson and Reese Vedbraaten. Contestants for the Miss RiverFest Pageant are Morgan Berg, McKaela Larson, Nadja Melby and Cyrina Ostgaard. Little Miss Thief River Falls Pageant contestants are featured in another article in this newspaper.
