Love and tattoos. Six sisters from Thief River Falls recently had tattoos placed on their forearms. ?The tattoo symbolizes their infinite love for one another, and love for their brothers who have passed away. If nothing, it certainly gives them an opportunity to talk about their sisters.

Gracie Woods, 15, has a typical father-daughter relationship with her dad, Todd. He can’t understand her infatuation with clothing, particularly certain pairs of jeans. During a conversation Wednesday, the two of them exchanged glances when talk turned to the jeans and where they will go during the remodeling process.
Thief River Falls, the surrounding communities and elsewhere have gathered to support Gracie and her family. They’re helping remodel her bedroom, a bathroom and the downstairs living room at her Thief River Falls home.
“It’s overwhelming. We’re all kind of numb right now,” Todd said about the amount of community support.

In 2009, after many years of service to the youth and community of Thief River Falls, the Little Brother Little Sister program of Pennington County ceased to exist. Now, a local group of citizens is hoping to revive the organization.
April Ballard, who has taken up the effort to revive the program, said her dad and uncle were Big Brothers. Forty years later, she said her uncle still remains in contact with the youth he mentored in the program.

Residents of Thief River Falls and the surrounding communities will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events starting Thursday, July 31. Within a six-day period, Movie in the Park; RiverFest, Crazy Day, the Pioneer 5K and 10K Run, Walk and Roll In Color; the Street Wizards Car and Motorcycle Show; and Night to Unite will be held in Thief River Falls. As usual on a summer Saturday morning, the Thief River Falls Farmers Market will also be held.
