The plans were drawn on a napkin. Decades later, Dr. Steve Levinson
still has the napkin showing the plans for the Northern Lights
residential treatment program.
On March 21, after 35 years, Levinson resigned as director of the
Mental Health Division at MeritCare Thief River Falls Northwest Medical
Center. He resigned because he was disheartened with the many
unnecessary requirements and complexity in healthcare today that
interfere with serving patients well.

Renewal of a contract with School Administrative Specialty Services
for superintendent services for the 2008-2009 school year will likely
mean that Superintendent Irv Peterson will be with School District 564
in Thief River Falls for another school year. During the Board of
Education meeting Monday, April 28, and after the Board approved its
motion, Peterson told the Board that he intended to renew his contract
with SASS.

The cast has already begun rehearsing for the show and were doing so Tuesday, April 29, when this picture was taken. Noel was born in Beverly Hills, Calif., the daughter of child-star Joan Carroll, who starred in “The Bells of St. Mary’s” and “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Noel has been dancing since she was four years old and teaching for the past 28 years. She has been hired to choreograph “Anything Goes” in Thief River Falls.
When it comes to preparing the musical “Anything Goes” in Thief
River Falls this summer, well... anything goes. One of the extra steps
taken by organizers of the musical production has been to hire a
choreographer.

Monday, May 5, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty signed legislation
strengthening the state’s efforts to eradicate bovine Tuberculosis (TB)
from beef cattle and deer in northwestern Minnesota. The bill provides
the Minnesota Board of Animal Health (BAH) with expanded regulatory
authorities and funding to implement a bovine TB eradication plan in
northwestern Minnesota.

Challenger third graders get a good cardiovascular workout while dancing to the choreographed Dance Dance Revolution program. Challenger Elementary students participated in Dance Dance Revolution earlier this month.
